Knowledge of and familiarity with Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista, Mac OSX and basic computer skills required. | Job Description and Responsibilities: HSA Engineering is an independent contractor that assists the insurance industry in the investigation of insurance claims. Our responsibility is to gather the facts regarding damage to residential homes and commercial buildings. Our reports help assist insurance adjusters determine whether insurance coverage is provided. We investigate and write cause and origin (C&O) reports for insurance companies. Our work product is time sensitive and requires us to investigate insurance damage claims in a timely manner, usually conducting the investigation and preparing the final report within a two-week period. Our work involves the evaluation of insurance losses in both commercial buildings and residential homes. The Building Scientist will spend approximately 30 to 40% of the time in the field at insurance claim sites; the remainder of time will be spent preparing reports. The position requires strong speaking and writing skills, computer program competency (i.e., Excel, Word). The position is targeted for teachers of Biology, Microbiology, Building Sciences or Industrial Hygiene and Engineering. |
